In today's TOK class, we did an activity about imagination in an effort to associate with the article we'd read last night. The activity basically was Ms. Yorke telling us a story about a mythical animal that has multiple arms and legs and lives in the paradise island, one day she picked up a young boy who was survived from a shipwreck, then they become best friends. However, one day there is a plane to rescue the boy, so the boy is in a dilemma of staying or leaving.

Next, Ms. Yorke asked us to draw a picture of what remains in our memory about the story, as a justification of how imagination works.

This is what I have drew in fifteen minutes, as presented, I merely recorded the most unforgettable scene in my mind which was " There was a mysterious animal in the depth of forest."

Even though it was not a perfect drawing, but I tried my best to recall the background and the construction of the scene. Judging from this activity, I discovered that imagination is often on the basis of past experience and subjective inclination. When I was young, I was exposed to plenty of fairy tales and similar stories, they were so ingrained in my brain that once I hear some story I automatically relate it to the fairy tales I learned back then. Secondly, I used my personal judgement for the story at the very beginning, I took it for granted that this kind of stories are all childish and gay.Ultimately, my drawing ended up like above, it was a silly invaluable piece of work whereas it could address some many questions and inquiries.

After today's activity, I realized how amazing and intriguing imagination is as a way of knowing and as an indispensable portion of our life.
