Story: One day, the famous scientist Thomas Edison called up his assistant and gave him a problem to solve, in order to test his ability of working out troubles in real life. He showed him a light bulb and asked him to determine the volume of this bulb. The assistant tried his best with rulers, meters and so many equipment and hundreds of draft papers. However, the result seems to be confusing and irrational. At the end, Edison came in and said:" Why not fill the bulb with water then pour out the water and calculate the volume of the water?"

In this little test, Edison was testing the intuitional thinking skills of his assistant instead of logical thinking skills, which his assistant was adept at.
